The purpose of BRO is to promote environmental cooperation between Norway, Russia and Eastern Europe in such a way that can help provide a future self-development.
BRO will engage in a practical and long-term support work is mainly targeted at disadvantaged groups in Russia and Eastern Europe.
BRO wish to promote sustainable building methods, practical teaching, and contribute to the academic and cultural exchange through, among other things workshops.
BRO is constructing a network of experts and partners, implementing projects and educational programs and develop models for mutual, project-based cooperation between east and west.

The Shelter ECODOM has been developed in a cooperation between the
Norwegian NGO "BRO", and the Russian NGO Svetlana and Skolnij Dom Ryzhkovo.
This cooperation started in 1997 and has as a practical result buildt several buildings
at Svetlana and Ryzhkowo, using natural building methodes from strawbales and clay.
BRO has competence in natural building methodes, and there is a growing interest in Russia, espessially of strawbale buildings. Svetlana / Ryzhkovo is one of the very few places in Russia where this building technology can be visited and seen.
As a result of seminars and discussions the idea of a modular ecohouse took form, based on the work and solutions developed in Norway; "Shelter". (see: www.aktiv- hus.no) |
